The National Women's Studies Association is seeking local organizing teams or consortia for its future conferences.

The annual conference is typically held the second or third week in June. Recent conferences have registered 1,000-1,200 attendees and have been hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Center for Women’s Studies in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin System Women’s Studies Consortium (2004) and the New Orleans Women’s Studies Consortium (2003). The 2005 conference was organized by the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, and the University of South Florida.

Partnering with the National Women's Studies Association to serve as the local organizing team or consortium for an annual conference offers exciting rewards and challenges.

As a member of the local organizing team, sponsoring women’s studies programs and/or women’s centers receive:

  • National recognition and an opportunity to help set the intellectual agenda for women’s studies via embedded conferences, a film series, and plenary sessions

  • Institution and program/center name listed as sponsor/co-sponsor in all NWSA print and electronic media advertising the conference

  • Collaboration with and support from the NWSA president, executive director, national office staff, and the national conference chair

  • A seat on the NWSA governing council during the year the conference will be held at your site

  • More than $40,000 dedicated in the NWSA budget to help defray national conference expenses

  • Administrative support that covers production and mailing of the conference CFP, processing registration fees, and processing submitted proposals, including accept/decline letters, among other things
